Vegas resident MaryAnn has dedicated her life to helping children, seniors, and those in need. Guided by philanthropic intentions, MaryAnn was drawn to Papa’s mission of promoting healthier living through human connection. She says, “I love to meet new people and create relationships with them. So many seniors are lonely and I am here to help them feel heard and loved. When I am with members, I talk to them, and they open up about their lives. The gift I give them is active listening.”
Recently MaryAnn helped a member who felt alone and depressed. MaryAnn said, “I let her talk, reassured her she was not alone, and told her that she was loved. She cried, then I cried and let her know we would get through this hard time. She told me she hadn’t felt loved in a long time, and my words gave her a reason for hope.”
MaryAnn’s sense of purpose comes from her weekly visits with members. “When I build healthy relationships with Papa members, I help them overcome their feelings of loneliness, and they give me the joy of human connection.”
